Trolls

Norway is home to trolls. Luckily for me, only nice trolls live around Rosendal!

I knew about trolls before I came because of the movie Troll Hunter. If you haven't seen it, rent it, buy it, steal it, do whatever you need so you can watch it.  You probably won't like it, but I think it's a funny movie. Here is a picture from the movie

















In Bergen there were lots of trolls

 Ignore all the food and just look at the troll.

It's mine....Brian thinks it's creepy so when I get home I'm going to move it closer and closer to him everyday until one day he wakes up and it's sitting right next to him!


 On top of Mt. Fløyen stands this beautiful thing

And if you decide to walk down Mt Fløyen there is a troll forest/path that you can take.

The views were amazing.  We heard that most days you can't see everything because of the clouds, however the week we were there the weather was amazing. Fun fact about Bergen: It is the rainiest city in Europe. It rains more than 275 days a year. The sun was shining the whole time
we were there.

We actually went up there twice and the second time we got a waffle and some varm sjokalade (hot chocolate)

 It tasted really good!

















When Stein asked me what I planned to do in Bergen I told him go to Mt. Fløyen and hike down. He told me "As a PE teacher I expect you to walk!" So we walked down the mountain!

We did find a funny sign. The longer you look at it the funnier it gets.

What exactly is a full fart?

Påske Break

We just had our Easter break and it was amazing! The weather was beautiful and my mom came to see me! The only bad thing about the Easter break is that Norway has the world's longest Easter Holiday.  Norwegian shops and work places are closed over skjærtorsdag (Maundy Thursday), langfredag (Good Friday) and the Monday following Easter Sunday, known as andre påskedag, or the Second Easter Day. So that means everything was closed on Thursday, Friday, Sunday, and Monday. That also means that all the transportation was on different schedules and that means it was very difficult to plan!

My mom and I still had fun though. Here are some pictures of Bergen:

One Month

In exactly one months time, if  USU doesn't screw me over, I will be graduating!!!  Happy dance!!!

Perhaps the biggest announcement the week of the 183rd annual General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints came late on Easter Sunday. The LDS Church announced plans to purchase Utah State University, renaming the 125 year old school BYU-Logan. The Church cites increasing tension between Aggie fans and Cougar fans as the reason for the purchase. "We hope this move will defuse any tension between Aggie fans and Cougar fans. Now fans from both schools can cheer for BYU, regardless if they're from Logan or Provo", said a church spokesperson
Utah State University officials point to a dramatic drop in school enrollment, in large part due to the Church's announcement last fall that young men are now eligible to serve LDS missions at 18 years of age."They joke around and call us their little brother. Now they can call us their twin brother," said a school spokesperson. Of course, Monday is April 1st and we hope Aggie fans can appreciate a good April Fool's joke when they read one!

Fishing

I live on a fjord.  A fjord has lots of water. What lives in the water?

Fish!

Lots of people have told us that we should just catch our own fish for dinner. So that's exactly what we have been doing.
