The Kvinnherad Church is one of the largest medieval stone churches in Western Norway. It was built in 1250.

Puttball. A game of soccer and golf that I hope to learn. However, I don't understand the picture of the kid feeding the calf....What does that have to do with puttball?
Those are all the pictures I took yesterday because I kept forgetting to pull out my camera. So this morning Ingvill, the Principal at Malmanger, and her husband Lars came by to see if we wanted to go for a walk.
This is the traditional roofing. Sod and I believe the white stuff is birch tree. I asked if there was a purpose or if it was more for looks, and they said more for looks. However, the sod is better for windy weather because it's heavy so your roof doesn't fly away.
Lots of boulders and rocks for the trolls to eat
This is the part of the Barony where the servants stayed. Now it's a little bed and breakfast.
This road leads to the Barony but they decided to show us the stone garden instead and let us explore the Barony by ourselves.
This is a Lavvu where you can go and have lunch with some friends if you would like
The saw mill
The old saw that they still use
This water runs to the mill
A swing set and a teeter totter
This is a table by the saw mill where you can come and eat lunch
The Steinparken or stone park, is lots of rocks that have been sculpted and placed together in a unique way show the geological diversity of the Folgefonna peninsula.
That's Lars, and my roommate Erica.
This rock is very rare and very hard to find. It's a form of lava rock but what makes it so interesting is usually lava rock melts and forms one big blob.....
However this rock doesn't melt together. The rocks stay as individual rocks.
Striped rock
I thought this table would be fitting in a Vikings home!
You could almost pass this rock by without knowing it was pink. The top part has been sanded down so you can see the color, the bottom part is what it normally looks like.
Just more proof not to judge something from it's outside appearance
Smile
One of the schools that Katlin will be teaching out is a little ways out of town. She wanted to see how long it would take to get there so we decided to keep walking.

Wow!!! That is really cool. What is a Barony? And a Lavvu? Can you really eat inside of it? Are the starfishys next to your house?
Who knew that people in Norway had tepees too? Obviously, the trolls have not been told about the rock garden. The Barony is probably an awesome place if their servants quarters are so nice. Amazingly colorful starfish!! My 2 favorite pictures: the one of the cabins all lined up from the side, and the picture of Rosendal's sign with the water and your cabins in the background- beautiful!

Yes you can eat in it. Lars told me that one day I should bring my friends and have a picnic there. Yes the starfishys are right by my cabin!!!
I saw all the rocks and there was a bridge near by and I wanted to yell out "TROOOOOOLLLLLLLLL" but no one would have got it.....I still need to find Troll Hunter for my roomies to watch.
